Part 2:How to get traffic from forums

In the last post I showed you how important the traffic from other forums with the same or similar niche is. If you missed it, you can read that post here.

Today I am going to show you how to actually get that traffic to your site. It is easy, really. Just follow these simple tips:

Your UserName.

When registering at a forum, it’s always good to choose the name of your site as your username, followed by the extension of your domain. You need to make sure you read the rules of the forum first, and make sure they allow that in the forums. Because some don’t, and that will result into getting banned. Here is an example. If I want to register to a forum about making money online, in which case I am going to choose Site Talk Zone. For the username I would choose “TheMMBlog.com”, as you can see in the picture. So that’s what I mean by choosing the name of your site as your username, because members of that forum will be curios, and will actually visit that link, which will take them to your site.

Avatar.

If you are good with Photoshop, or any other designing program, I suggest you create a 125×125 or 100×100 banner about your site. If you don’t know how to do this, then it would be a good idea to hire someone to do that for you. You can use this banner as your avatar, as you can see on the picture on the right. That is really helpful, because if you have both the username and the avatar, people will really want to see what’s behind that link, so it’s likely that they will visit it. So that is why having a banner is really important when registering to a forum.

Signature.

Having a link to your blog in your signature is always nice. Many people look at the signatures of another member, because we are always looking for other new sites. As for me, I always click on the links. That’s why you want to put one in your signature. You should try and make the title as catchy as possible, so it will grab the member’s attention. As you can see in the picture, mine is not that catchy, because I just did that as an example. And that’s an example of how your link will look on your signature.

One thing you should remember is that whether you are using the avatar, the signature, or the username to get traffic to your site, make sure that particular forum allows that, because not all of them do.
